HISTORY OF INNER WHEEL CLUB


History Of the Club

At present, there are 812 clubs in 27 districts covering almost all the Indian states. Clubs of all
the Districts render invaluable service in education,health, cultural, environmental and literary avenue.

The Different Events of Inner Wheel Clubs All Over India

1955:The First Inner Wheel Club of India was started at Ahmedabad (Gujarat).Mrs. Minnie Camma was the chartered President

1965: The First Inner Wheel District Was formed and numbered as 75 and later was changed to Dist.305

1968 : Ms.Malati Rana appointed first IIWR and a National Council was formed and the meeting was held at Bombay.Four districts took part in the meeting.

1969 : One Council Member per district was appointed

1974-75: National Council meetings were held in Surat and Bangalore

1976 : Association of IW Clubs formed in India and SriLanka.

First President:Raksha Mehta. Association by-laws printed.

1977: First Conference of Association held at Bombay

1985 : Dist.332(Sri Lanka) and Dist.328 (Bangladesh) were delinked from Association of Inner Wheels Club in India

1986-87 :Mrs.Minna Kapur, first lady from India to be elected as the President of International Inner Wheel.

1993-94 :Mrs. Anita Aggarwal, Past President of the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in India,is the
second lady from India to be elected as the president of International Inner Wheel. She chaired the 9th IIW Convention at Sydney.
